Concepción Has Culture Too!!!!

Posted on September 26, 2010 by deeraneac

The country of Chile has so many cultures and traditions that they hold dear. The people as well as their culture are mixed both with Spanish and indigenous groups that were native to the country. Folk music is the main type of music in Chile which had international approval since the 1960s. When it comes to Chilean rock music, Concepcion, Chile is known as one of the most active.

The national dance for the county of Chile is the Cueca which came from a peasant tradition. Various sources say that it emerged as a symbol of the newly-made republic in rebellion against the Spanish crown. It is a complex dance that is performed by two people along with one or two vocalists as well as instruments such as a guitar, a piano, or an accordion. It is also performed with hand clapping which encourages the dancers. Both the partners dance alone. They never touch yet never lose contact with each other through their movements and face expressions.

Concepcion is also known for their participation in sports. They currently have 5 soccer clubs that are considered professional soccer teams: Club Deportivo Universidad de Concepción Futbol, Club Deportivo Ferroviario Almirante Arturo Fernández Vial, Club de Deportes Concepción, Lota Schwager, and Club Deportivo Huachipato. They also have professional basketball played at a high level which is known as the Club Deportivo Universidad de Concepción.

The city of Concepcion is historically characterized by having a strong manufacturing industry. Moreover, the city was been a main center for distribution and services as well as the financial basis of the regional economy. The trade in the city is located in the Independence Square, the pedestrian street, and along main avenues.
